As of reference month January 2024, Statistics Canada is publishing a consolidated monthly release called "Aircraft movement and civil aviation statistics." Coinciding with this new release is an Aviation Data Visualization Hub that allows you to further explore data from Aircraft movement statistics and Monthly civil aviation statistics.

Statistics Canada recently started to publish more detail from the Monthly Passenger Bus and Urban Transit Survey. The new table 23-10-0307-01—Passenger bus and urban transit statistics, by urban transit agency—includes operating revenue and ridership at the city level for selected transit agencies. Statistics Canada appreciates the cooperation of the 15 transit agencies in making this information available to Canadians.

The rapid recovery in air travel during the busy summer travel season (July to September) of 2022 posed capacity challenges for some Canadian airports. To better monitor air travel recovery and traffic, Statistics Canada is publishing a new and timelier monthly series for passenger traffic that starts with January 2019 data. Screened passenger traffic at Canadian airports provides counts from the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority at pre-board security checkpoints in Canada's eight largest airports. This new table contains data for the most current month (October 2023).

Statistics Canada has recently released 2022 data on motor vehicle registrations, featuring a breakdown of vehicle type by fuel. The following highlights are from the Daily release, available here: Vehicle registrations, 2022 The total number of road motor vehicles registered in Canada was 26.3 million in 2022, edging up 0.3% from 2021. Light-duty vehicles accounted for 91.7% of total registrations in 2022, with multi-purpose vehicles (LDVs) surpassing passenger cars for the first time as the most common vehicle type in Canada. The demand for motor vehicle fuels continued to rebound in 2022, with gross sales of gasoline in Canada at 42.5 billion litres, up 5.6% from 2021. Fuel sales have reached roughly 95% of the levels from 2019 (44.8 billion litres), before the COVID-19 pandemic. At roughly 18.3 billion litres in 2022, net sales of diesel fuel were just above (+2.4%) the pre-pandemic 2019 level. Freight rail service and performance information that is submitted by rail carriers on a weekly basis is now available. As of April 10, 2023, this new and improved dataset replaced indicators that had been published since December 2018. This significantly expanded set of indicators, including additional geographic dimensions and a broader range of commodities, improves supply chain transparency and provide freight rail users and the public with much more relevant and precise information relating to rail service and performance in Canada. Statistics Canada has launched a new data visualization tool. The Frontier Counts: Interactive Dashboard provides access to data on the number of border crossings in an interactive and customizable format. The counts include only those travelling for tourism-related purposes. The dashboard includes four visualizations: leading indicator of air arrivals, leading indicator of land arrivals, returning Canadians, and visitors to Canada.

Statistics Canada has just released a new series on motor vehicle registrations, featuring a breakdown of vehicle type by fuel. The following highlights are from the Daily release, available here. The total number of road motor vehicles registered in Canada increased to 26.2 million in 2021, up 1.9% over 2020. At 24.1 million, light duty vehicles (LDVs) accounted for 9 out of every 10 motor vehicles registered in 2021, with passenger cars remaining the most common type.
