The Transportation in Canada 2017 Overview Report is now available online on the Transport Canada Website. The report highlights the role of transportation in the economy and provides an overview of the four transportation modes (air, marine, rail and road) in terms of infrastructure, safety and security, and environment. It also describes major industry and policy developments in the transportation sector in 2017 and presents a short assessment of the performance of the Canadian transportation system and of key supply chains.
The report also highlights the recently passed Transportation Modernization Act, which aims to establish new air passenger rights, provide travellers with more choice by increasing air carrier competitiveness, as well as improve rail safety and sustainable long-term investment in the freight rail sector.
