Notes and Sources
Notes: RTK = Revenue Tonne Kilometres, RPK = Revenue Passenger Kilometres. N/A = Not available. RTK includes the weight of cargo and passengers. Passenger RTK is calculated by multiplying RPK by 100kg, which is the industry’s conventional assumption of the average weight per passenger, including baggage.
Description:
The table presents aggregate efficiency for particiapating action plan operators based on the emissions per revenue tonne kilometer travelled (including both cargo and passengers). Aviation operations show ongoing efficiency improvement trend but were impacted significantly as a result of the pandemic in 2021 and 2022. Overall operations reached reached a record efficiency level in 2023.
Methodology:
Based on Transport Canada aggregated operator data collection.
