Notes and Sources

Notes: R= Revised data. P= Preliminary data. N/A= Not available. The entire data series was revised at source.

1 Including both primary and secondary energy demand.

2 In this sector, only the use of fuel by the transportation industry for transportation purposes are included, and not fuel used to power transportation structures and equipment. Fuel used to power pipelines is excluded. Gasoline and diesel fuel use for fleets that are owned by manufacturing and commercial firms are included. Data cells that are suppressed by the source are not included in the subtotals.

3 Establishments primarily engaged in truck transport services, in the operation of urban, interurban and rural transit systems, school buses, charter and sightseeing buses, taxis and limousine services to airports and stations.

4 Components might not sum up to the total due to rounding, data suppressed by the source, statistical discrepancies, and immaterial alternative fuels that are not covered.

5 Including manufacturing and commercial fleets as noted above. Agriculture, government and other sectors are excluded. Data cells that are suppressed by the source are assumed to be zero.
